Chapter History

The Theta Theta Chapter of Phi Mu Fraternity was the result of the establishment of Phi Mu Kappa, which then became the Theta Theta chapter of Phi Mu Fraternity through hard work and dedication.
Phi Mu Kappa was founded with the intent of expansion with recognized goals such as academics, community service, scholastic achievement, and devotion to true sisterhood. Becoming a Chapter of Phi Mu Fraternity was the ultimate aspiration.
The 10 founding sisters are as follows: Leiland Paulding, Tracie Goodman-Price, Terri Wiles, Jamie Kopeck, Regina Lynn Hayden, Jenny Sittnick, Brandy Williams, Kelly Griffin, Bridgett Brumbaugh, and Elka Brambaugh.
Leiland Paulding and Tracie Goodman-Price were the two women who founded Phi Mu Kappa--now the Theta Theta Chapter of Phi Mu Fraternity--through their immense devotion and dedication.
At the time, Columbus State University housed only two sororities on campus and neither were of the caliber of Tracie's choosing. Leiland had been a previous member of Delta Pi. Unfortunately, her local sorority had folded due to inner member struggles. Thus the two women came together to start anew the previously folded chapter of Delta Pi.
Advertisements were posted all across campus for potential members. A group of 12 women were interested. The potential sisters were Leiland Paulding, Tracie Goodman--Price, Brandy Williams, Terri Wiles, Lynn Haden, Elke Brumbaugh, Bridgett Brumbaugh, Jaime Kobeck, Kelly Griffin, Eli Cain, Rachel Reese, and Jenny Sittnick.
Restarting Delta Pi required filling out a small amount of paperwork to go by all the previous policies. However, despite rules and regulations, there still lay the problem that Delta Pi had an unpaid balance to a fundraising company. Not wanting to be held accountable for the debt, an official vote was taken, and the Chapter's name was changed. To forgo accidentally using a national's name, the name Phi Mu Kappa was used in order to honor Phi Mu Fraternity. Their national creed was respected and symbols and history were honored by the fact that one of the founding sisters was born in Columbus, Georgia.
Through active philanthropic work and campus involvement, the proof that Phi Mu Kappa had the potential for success was in the open. The founding sisters chose to name the Crohns Colitis Foundation as the main philanthropy, for one of our founding sisters has been diagnosed with Chrons.
Phi Mu Kappa patterned themselves after the national organization in many ways. Because of this, the transition from being Phi Mu Kappa to being Phi Mu-- the national organization-- was essentially an easy one in the end.
And thus was the birth of Phi Mu Kappa--and the beginning of the Theta Theta Chapter of Phi Mu Fraternity.
